Association to defend the memory of the Pétain marshal was created in 1951 pennies the high patronage of the Weygand General. It followed upon a committee of honor for the release of the Pétain marshal whose President was Louis Madelin of the French Academy.
The first president of the ADMP was the Héring General; the committee of honor included/understood inter alia members of the French Academy (Henry Bordeaux, Louis Madelin, Claude Farrère, Jerome Tharaud), the Generals Brécard, Dufieux, of Harcourt, Lafont, Door of Theil, Laure, Pujo, Serrigny, personalities such as Gaston Bergery, Jean Borotra, Jerome Carcopino, Pierre-Etienne Flandin, Daniel Halevy, Henry Lemery, Henri Massis, Pierre Mauriac, François Pietri, Pierre Taittinger.

From July 1952 to December 1958, the body of connection of Association appeared in the form of bulletins; as from March 1959, it was published under the current title "the Marshal".

In October 1955, a committee of honor for the celebration of centenaire of the birth of the Pétain marshal was made up under the presidency of the Weygand General. This celebration proceeded in the following way: April 22, under the presidency of the Generals Weygand and Héring, was affixed with Cauchy-with-the-Turn a commemorative plate on the house where was born the Pétain marshal on April 24, 1856; April 24, mass commemorative with Our-Lady of Paris; April 26 with Verdun and Douaumont was evoked the great figure of the Pétain General; April 29, ceremony on the tomb of the Marshal in the island of Yeu; April 30, the Weygand General flowers the flagstone crowned under the Triumphal arch of Star; May 1, mass of Saint-Philippe in the church Our-Lady of the Victories.

At the end of May 1956, the national Confederation of the Combatants of resistance took action tending to obtain the dissolution of the ADMP in front of the civil Court of the Seine, which declared inadmissible.

June 6, 1958, main Isorni, lawyer of the Marshal and statutory member of the management committee of the ADMP addresses a letter to General de Gaulle, President of the Council, requiring of him to transfer ashes from the Marshal of the national cemetery of Douaumont.But meanwhile, General de Gaulle himself had informed Edmond Michelet, minister for Ex-serviceman, his intention to transfer them to it: the publication of the letter of Isorni Master encouraged the General to give up his project.

In January 1960, the Héring General announces his decision to leave the presidency of the ADMP because of his health; he succeed the head of Association Master Jean Lemaire, one of lawyers of the Marshal.

The ADMP loses, January 30, 1962, a great lady in the person of Madam the marshal's wife Pétain; its funerals are celebrated in theSaint-Pierre church of Large Stone in Paris in the presence of the marshal June and of the Weygand General.
Another disappearance which marks the ADMP: January 28, 1965, dies the Weygand General.

In March 1968, the Lacaille General succeeds Jean Lemaire with the head of the ADMP (this last having been indicated by the bar of Paris like its next barristers president).
November 10, 1968 in the island of Yeu in the presence of G Nolleau-Seyrat, "Guard of the Tomb", General de Gaulle, President of the Republic, makes deposit a sheaf carrying the inscription "the President of the Republic"; since this date, all the Presidents of the Republic (George Pompidou, Valéry Giscard d' Estaing, François Mitterrand) made the same gesture, except for Jacques Chirac.
In 1970, the ADMP acquires the apartment which occupied the Pétain marshal in Vichy of 1940 to 1944.

By letter July 31, 1972, the Lacaille General dislocates himself, for personal reasons, of the presidency of the ADMP; he succeed the admiral Auphan, former Secretary of State to the Marine of the Marshal; this last chairs the activities of the ADMP until March 1976, date on which Jean Borotra succeeds to him, ex-serviceman of the two wars, Minister for the Marshal in 1940-1942, deportee-resistant.
May 25, 1976, the admiral Auphan, honorary president of the ADMP, having in its sides Master Isorni and L D. Girard, takes part in television with the "Files of the Screen", but the disordered empoignade of the debate does not enable him to be expressed as he would have liked. July 23, 1976, for the 2ë anniversary of died of the Marshal, Jean Borotra makes an address in front of the tomb in the island of Yeu, while main Isorni speaks with the Ossuary of Douaumont.
May 1, 1977, is held in Paris a congress placed under the Presidency of honor of the admiral Auphan and the presidency of Jean Borotra, surrounded by many personalities, inter alia Jean Guitton of the French Academy.

March 7, 1978, If Hamza Boubakeur, vice-chancellor of the Moslem Institute of the Mosque of Paris, receives various personalities of the ADMP to divide the traditional lamb barbecue.
The General meeting of the ADMP of May 31, 1980 indicates, to replace Jean Borotra, as new President, George Lamirand, former minister for Youth.
April 6, 1982, dies the admiral Auphan, honorary president of the ADMP.

May 1, 1982, Association celebrates its thirtieth anniversary.
The General meeting of May 20, 1984 ratifies the election of François Lehideux, former Secretary of State to the industrial Production of the Marshal like chair ADMP, to replace George Lamirand elected honorary president.

January 11, 1986, on TF1, the ADMP, represented by its president François Lehideux, takes part in the emission "Right of reply" entirely faked, but our duty was to take part in it, the memory of the Marshal being attacked.

July 23, 1991, 40e anniversary of died of the Marshal celebrated in the island of Yeu and chaired by the leaders of the ADMP, François Lehideux, Jean Borotra, the General Groignec.

Association acquired, financed inter alia by the gifts of its members and readers, the native house of the Marshal with Cauchy-with-the-Turn; its inauguration takes place in April 1992.
October the 9, and 10 1992, takes place with Verdun the General meeting of the ADMP: a fraternal meeting and a success "Courage! One will have them! ".
Two honorary presidents of Association leave us in 1994: George Lamirand on February 5, Jean Borotra on July 17.
October the 14, and 15 1994, the General meeting of the ADMP at the height leads the participants of Doors of Portalet where the Marshal had known a ashamed imprisonment.
May 8, 1995, disappearance of Jacques Isorni, burning defender of Philippe Pétain, Marshal of France; it rests with Villers-on-Sea (Apple-brandy).

May 1, 1997, of the demonstrators close to the extreme-right-hand side Zionist are opposed by the force to the celebration of the annual service to the memory of the Marshal to the church Our-Lady of the Victories in Paris.
June 21, 1998, dies out in its 9ë year president François Lehideux. The duties of the presidency are taken over temporarily by the first vice-president, Claude Adam.

September 23, 1998, after fifteen years of procedure, the European Court of the humans right of Strasbourg recognizes, counters the French State, the right "to defend the memory of the Pétain Marshal".
December 21, 1998, is elected, to replace François Lehideux, as president of the ADMP, Mrs Aline Ménétrel, widow of Dr. Bernard Ménétrel, the most intimate companion of the Marshal in Vichy and Sigmaringen.

October 21, 2000, at the time of the General meeting of the ADMP held in Paris, is elected as a president the General Jacques Groignec, former commander of fighter squadron during the war, ordering air Defense of the territory in 1974: nomination occurred following the resignation, for health reasons, of Mrs. Aline Ménétrel.

July 23, 2001, the ADMP celebrates in the island of Yeu, the 50e anniversary of died of the Pétain marshal; in this memorable day, 700 marechalists take part in the various demonstrations organized by Association: halt in front of the house of the departed where Jean Charon, delegated ADMP to the island of Yeu, evokes the last moments of the oldest prisoner of the world; mass celebrated with the church Our-Lady of the Port; in the marine cemetery, homage to the Marshal in front of his tomb where the president, the General Groignec, reaffirms solemnly: "We will never forget".
The ADMP sets primarily a double mission: translation of the famous soldier of the island of Yeu with Douaumont and revision of the lawsuit of 1945.

It organizes each year of the national demonstrations (with Cauchy-with-the-Turn, April 24; mass in Paris, May 1; in the island of Yeu, July 23; in Verdun, November 10) or regional.

The seat of Association is located in Paris.
